Passengers up 6.2% in October

East Midlands Airport handled a total of 475,441 passengers last month, 6.2% more than in 2006. This was the ninth consecutive month of growth at the airport.
The increased passengers were driven by a 19.2% jump in international passengers, with domestic passengers down 1.8% and passengers on charter flights down.10.9% . Dublin was the most popular destination last month, with the island hotspot of Palma on Mallorca continuing also in the top 3.
In the period January to October the airport handled 4.66 million passenger, up 14.4 % compared to 4.08 million in the same period of 2006. Recent destinations announced from East Midlands Airport include bmibaby's new routes to Nice from 1st April 2008, with additional destinations to Gdansk and Warsaw, which also start for the summer season.
