Plane problems cause two day delay
30.10.11
Hundreds of holidaymakers were stranded in the Canary Islands for two days because of faulty planes, the Mirror reports. The problems for the 220 passengers began when a fuel leak was discovered on the Thomas Cook plane - due to fly the passengers back to East Midlands Airport from Lanzarote - on Thursday night.
After waiting on board for two hours, they were sent back to their hotels on Lanzarote. A replacement flight on Friday was also cancelled because of a ‘technical fault’ with the plane. The passengers then staged a sit-in at the terminal – but were threatened with arrest and eventually agreed to return to the hotels for a second night.
They were finally put on a plane yesterday – but even that was an hour late taking off. It was due to land late last night.
