Airport expects busy weekend

East Midlands Airport is experiencing its busiest weekend of the summer, with thousands of passengers jetting off. It is expecting 86,500 people will travel through the airport between Friday and tomorrow, an increase of 0.8% compared to the same weekend last year.
A spokesman said: ‘The figures for this Bank Holiday weekend suggest that even more people are looking to travel this year. This is a positive indication for our overall performance for August. The most popular destinations for this Bank Holiday are Palma, Malaga and Alicante.'
