Heavy traffic around the airport this weekend

Passengers have been advised to allow extra time to get to East Midlands Airport this weekend, as thousands of people travel to the World Superbike Championships at Donnington Park. Major roads and motorways leading to this venue, which is adjacent to the airport, are likely to be busy for the whole weekend. The airport recommends customers allow extra time in case of delays.
There will be a traffic management system in place today and tomorrow on roads around the airport leading to Donington Park. This will include; 3 phase traffic light control on A453 / Melbourne Lane Junction, no right turn for traffic from Castle Donington at the junction of the A453 and Castle Donington Road (Hilltop) from 07:00 -19:00 and on Sunday there will be no right turn for traffic from Castle Donington at the junction of the A453 and Castle Donington Road (Hilltop) from 06:00 -19:00.
