Passenger numbers have risen for the eighth successive quarter at East Midlands Airport. The latest statistics show 1,195,747 passengers passed through the airport in the first 3 months of 2008, a rise of 15.2% compared to 2007.
March was the 24th consecutive month of growth, with passengers up by 11.5% to 460,552. Four new routes have been introduced so far in 2008 - including, Goa, the Isle of Man, Palma and Warsaw.
The Easter period offered a seasonal ‘boost’ to the airport, with 95,000 people travelling over the Easter weekend, a rise of 7% compared to 2007.
Penny Coates, Managing Director, EMA said: ‘The significant increase in passengers demonstrate that we are providing the destinations and routes from East Midlands Airport that people want.’
