Airbus Superjumbo at East Midlands on Monday
24.03.07
The Airbus A380 superjumbo aircraft will fly in to East Midlands Airport on Monday (March 26). Described as 'the pride of British and European aviation', the A380 is a double-decker four-engined aircraft that can seat up to 700 passengers.
The airport is opening its Aeropark viewing area so that enthusiasts can get a close up view of 'the shape of things to come' in civil aviation. Aviation enthusiasts are expected to turn out in force for the visit, which could cause traffic congestion problems for passengers using the airport.
The giant plane will be at the airport from approximately 11:25. It will perform a go-around and low-approach at the airport. Those interested in taking a closer look should head to the Aeropark on the north side of the airfield on Monday from 09:00, where they will be charged £2 for an entry ticket that includes free parking.
Enthusiasts are asked not to park around the perimeter of the airport or surrounding roads.
