Residents unhappy about noise plan
23.07.09
East Midlands Airport say they are happy with their policy on aircraft noise despite local unrest at a public meeting last night, the Derby Telegraph reports. The airport has put in place measures to reduce the effects of noise from planes, but many local people say they are still woken by night flights.
The EU recently introduced a new Directive requiring major noise sources including airports to come up with a plan to manage and reduce noise. At a public consultation meeting held in Melbourne last night, airport staff met with locals to listen to their views, with many unhappy at the measures included in the 5 year plan.
