Locals unhappy over night flights

New destinations and increased capacity from tour operators helped East Midlands Airport passengers grow by 19.2% last month. During February, 395,136 passengers passed through the airport, with international scheduled traffic up 18.7%, domestic scheduled traffic up 12.6% and charter traffic up 20.5%.
East Midlands experienced a significant increase in passengers to destinations operated by low-cost airlines Ryanair, easyJet and bmibaby. The airport also saw increased capacity on Thomson, Thomas Cook and XL.com routes as a result of extra demand from customers. Considerable growth was also experienced in passengers travelling to Egypt and the latest long-haul winter sun destination Goa with First Choice.
Easter is expected to be another bumper period for the UK’s 13th largest passenger airport, with around 95,000 people travelling through East Midlands Airport between today and Tuesday, a rise of nearly 7% compared to Easter last year.
Good Friday is expected to be the busiest day, with over 18,000 passengers jetting off for Easter. Dublin, Alicante, Tenerife, Glasgow and Edinburgh are expected to be the most popular destinations.
