East Midlands picks up another award

East Midlands Airport was named 'airport of the year' at the 2007 World Travel Awards, overcoming competition from the UK's major airports to win the award. Gatwick was named the top UK base for leisure travel and Heathrow was picked as the favourite UK hub for business travel.
Virgin Atlantic had the best economy class, best business class, favourite long-haul scheduled airline and was also named airline of the year. Australia was the 'dream destination' of 2007, the Costa Blanca the top beach holiday location and Barcelona the favourite city break destination.
