East Midlands wins local green award

East Midlands Airport has been named Best Business at the North West Leicestershire District Council Footprints Awards. Already the winner of two sustainability awards this year, a spokesman said that the airport was proud to add the ‘Best Business' Award to the collection.
The award recognises the airport's long term commitment to sustainability, including work to reduce its noise and air quality impact on its local community, environmental projects involving the Wildlife Trusts and continuous developments to the airport's perimeter trail.
Neil Robinson, Director of Sustainability for East Midlands Airport, said: ‘It's a great honour to be the first winner of the business category in the Footprints Challenge Awards. We are continually working to reduce our impact on our neighbouring communities. Receiving a local award shows that we are having a positive impact on those most heavily affected by our operations.’
