Noise complaints down almost 60%

Complaints made to East Midlands Airport about noise from flights have fallen by nearly 60%. Statistics released by the airport show 1064 complaints were made between April 1 last year and the end of Marc, 59% down on the 2632 complaints recorded in the previous 12 months and over 80% down on the figure of 7128 for 2007 / 08.
Airport bosses say the impressive drop shows measures it has introduced to cut noise pollution for local residents are becoming increasingly effective. However, local campaigners say the fall is because people now view complaining the the airport a futile exercise.
Neither point out that a large proportion of the 2007 / 08 complaints were made by one person, who seems to have stopped. Lies, damn lies and statistics.
