Burma aid flight takes off
14.05.08
An aid flight to Burma is due to take off from East Midlands Airport today. The plane will take 1000 aid packages and a response team member from charity ShelterBox, a UK disaster relief organisation, to Yangon, the former Burmese capital.
Tens of thousands have already died since the cyclone struck the region in the early hours of May 3 and aid organisations fear many more will be killed by disease. The packages, called ShelterBoxes, each contain a 10 person tent, sleeping mats, mosquito netting, a stove, other essential supplies and tools.
