Passengers up 15.4% in November
13.12.07
Passengers at East Midlands Airport were up by 15.4% in November compared to a year earlier. A total of 373,479 passengers passed through the airport in November, and so far this year (the 11 months January to November), it has handled 5,036,466 passengers compared to 4,401,014 in the same period last year, a rise of 14.4%.
Scheduled flights had 18.1% more passengers this November than last year, largely due to low cost airlines including Ryanair, easyJet and bmibaby launching new routes to a wide range of destinations. However, domestic passengers fell last month, down by 0.2%.
Almost 70,000 passengers travelled on charter flights in November, up 5.4% on last year. This is a good achievement given that charter passengers are down at most UK airport, as holidaymakers switch to more flexible scheduled flights with budget airlines.
