East Midlands plans to be carbon neutral by 2012

East Midlands Airport aims to make its on-site operations carbon neutral by 2012. The airport will eliminate CO² emissions from its ground operations, or where this is not possible, introduce initiatives to offset them elsewhere.
The initiative is part of a new Master Plan for the airport, published yesterday following public consultation. Managing director Penny Coates said: 'We are very aware of our responsibilities to the community and continuously strive to improve our performance.'
