bmi announce Cologne flights
05.12.07
bmi has announced that it will launch flights between East Midlands Airport and Cologne next year, filling the gap left by the withdrawal of easyJet from the route. The airline's regional flights arm will operate 6 direct flights a week on the route, starting on February 11.
Penny Coates, managing director of East Midlands Airport, said: 'We are delighted that bmi has chosen to start a Cologne route from East Midlands next year. It is an important destination for the business traveller and I am sure that it will also be a very popular route for leisure travellers too.'
Cologne is one of Germany's oldest cities and hosts annual carnivals as well as Europe's largest comedy festival and a large traditional Christmas market. As a Star Alliance member, bmi will also offer passengers connections from Cologne to other German cities via fellow alliance member Lufthansa.
The flights will leave East Midlands at 10:15 Monday to Friday (11:00 Sunday), arriving in Cologne at 12:35 (13:20 Sunday). The return flight leaves Cologne at 13:05 Monday to Friday (13:50 Sunday), arriving at East Midlands Airport at 13:35 (14:20 Sunday). Fares are from £49 each way (including all taxes fees and charges).
