East Midlands Airport is 'branching out' with the installation of a new tree sculpture that appears to break through the floor and reach up to the terminal's ceiling. The sculpture, which was unveiled by transport secretary Geoff Hoon last Friday, provides a 'unique welcome' for passengers, the airport said.
As well as having a symbolic meanings of growth and success, the tree has been declared a 'kissing zone' where people can be reunited with loved ones who are returning from overseas. It also features three television screens that show some of the famous places to visit in the East Midlands region.
