Weather hits flights today

Air passengers experienced delays at both Birmingham and East Midlands Airport this morning due to frozen runways. Both airports shut their main runways from 06:30 for about an hour to allow them to be deiced.
Over a dozen flights took off later than planned at the airports, with the closure affecting inbound and outbound flights. One flight from East Midlands Airport was delayed for two hours. A spokeswoman said: ‘It was a short-term closure to all traffic and there have been some short knock-on delays.’ Both expected to clear the backlog of flights by late afternoon.
