Man calls east airport 2000 times to complain about noise
04.08.08
A local resident called East Midlands Airport 2000 times last year to complain about aircraft noise. The numbers mean that he phoned the airport airport an average of 5 times a day.
The main complaints the airport received last year were over night flights. These led to 13 residents from surrounding villages to make a total of 6,300 noise complaints, the airport's annual report shows.
Steve Charlish, leader of Demand East Midlands Airport is Now Designated, defended the residents actions. He said: ‘It is important that people keep complaining, because if people don't complain they will have to reap what they sow.’
