MP unhappy at noise action plan
03.10.09
South Derbyshire MP Mark Todd has criticised East Midlands Airport's plans to reduce noise from planes, the Burton Mail reports.
The EU environmental noise directive requires airports to produce a Noise Action Plan (NAP). The airport has produced a draft NAP that details the current noise impact of the airport’s operations and the measures to mitigate this. The consultation period on the plan ends on October 21.
However, Mr Todd said that the airport’s response is ‘poor’ and ‘merely confirms the airport’s master plan published 3 years ago’. The MP added that the proposals do not go far enough to comply with the directive and said that there is no local accountability.
